Change Your Tango

Tango becomes so much more fun when you get to learn your own steps! Of course you will have to learn some fundamental steps in order to move in teh genre of tango. However, I am watching tango learners find their way by doing what their body is ready for instead of what I want to teach. What a relief for us all.

No more forcing my repertoire. Simply by walking through an obstacle course in specific ways, one acquires the skils to move in tango sequences. Then the tango body and muscles retains this information. After a few very engaging games, races or skill set drills, body and mind is set and ready to explore some tango steps with a partner.

You begin to move, you begin to release into a freedom you never had before and voila, new steps appear. Your Matrix coach notes the new movements and encourages you to do them again after observing them at least three times. Then you explore what you have done and bring the fine points of tango to the movements and the new repertoire is yours for life; no need to memorize sequences, patterns or steps. When the steps come from you, you keep them naturally.

The body/mind setting is key to how The Tango Matrix affects the way one moves. This has been so effective that my partner and I no longer begin workouts without at least The Tango Matrix warm up exercises; and often times we will play some games and do some drills; that is something very new, we never really had solo warm-ups that made us ready for a partner.

Our workouts in the past were sometimes frustrating. This happened especially when we knew we were plateaued and couldn’t seem to figure out how to raise our dance level because of some “kinesthetic blindness”. Since using The Tango Matrix we have found nothing but success and joy in our workouts. All we are doing different is starting with The Tango Matrix, and when we do, our first dance is almost always off the charts!

In addition to new joy and fun in our workouts, there is a sharp and steady increase in our dancing ability and elegance. Our lines are cleaner. Our posture is more dependable. Our pivots are more pure. Our level of comprehension in our mutual and joint decision making as we dance has sky rocketed. What is more, the drills have released the need for traditional leader or follower roles thus setting us into a standard of true partnering that makes moving together a piece of cake!
