Freno -or- Parada

Freno means to break or parada means to stop. They are basically inter changeable. Thought I tend to think of the pose I make a parada and I think of the slowing of energy that I offer my partner as the freno… but that may very well be a personal thing my mind does.

The point here is that our feet are never very far apart. When I go into outside partner, it is a good time to slow down the dance and use the parada to emphasize a stop or changing of mood or pace in the music. It is a classic move and all styles of tango use it. Though it would look different in on that the other, it is basically the body proximity that changes the look or re configures the movement.

The first video is in parallel system. It is also done in cross system, traditionally from ochos atras.
